Applications of étale cohomology

Summer school

Budapest, 16-20 June, 2014

Announcement:

The Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics announces a Summer School on the "Applications of étale cohomology" to be held at the Rényi Institute in Budapest between 16--20 June 2014.

The school is mainly aimed for graduate students, postdocs and researchers who are working in algebraic geometry or algebraic number theory, but anybody interested is welcome.

Some familiarity with étale cohomology is useful, but not necessary. There will be a quick review/brief introduction to the basic concepts. See also the list of recommended literature.

Ádám Gyenge (ELTE): Brief introduction to étale cohomology (slides)
Ambrus Pál (Imperial College): Crystalline cohomology and the Katz conjecture
Tamás Szamuely (Rényi Institute): The Weil conjectures (excercises)
Gergely Zábrádi (ELTE): The Fontaine-Mazur conjecture and p-adic Galois representations (excercises)

Daily exercise sessions will complement the lecture series.
